South Korea is offering major financial support to encourage childbirth, and an Indian-origin woman has gone viral after sharing her experience of these benefits.
Neha Arora, who is currently living in South Korea, posted a video on Instagram explaining how much the government provides during and after pregnancy. The clip has already received close to 7 million views.
According to her breakdown, the one-time assistance provided during pregnancy and delivery totals around ₹2,33,130. This includes ₹63,100 for health checkups and medicines, ₹44,030 for transport expenses, and ₹1,26,000 as a congratulatory amount given at childbirth.
In addition to these payments, the government extends monthly allowances for both mother and child. Expectant mothers receive ₹63,100 each month for one year, which comes to ₹7,57,200. After the child turns one, the allowance shifts to ₹31,000 per month until the age of two, adding up to ₹3,72,000. From ages two to eight, families are granted ₹12,600 monthly, amounting to ₹9,07,200 over six years.
When the monthly support of ₹20,36,400 is combined with the one-time benefits, the total financial assistance reaches nearly ₹23 lakh (₹22,69,530).
