In a city crowded with sleek lounges and trendy bars, a new spot in Indiranagar is turning heads by paying homage to nostalgia. Mirth, a 65-seat bar located just off 100 Feet Road, is not chasing trends. Instead, it offers a heartfelt reinterpretation of Bangalore’s pub culture, blending history, warmth, and careful craftsmanship.
The bar is the brainchild of four lifelong friends Sundeep Reddy, Arasu Elango, Santosh Balan, and Prasanna Govindappa, whose shared memories of Bangalore pubs over the last twenty-five years inspired this venture. What began as a casual idea in a group chat has transformed into a welcoming cocktail bar where conversations flow easily, evenings feel intimate, and laughter fills the air.
Previously a corporate office, the space has been redesigned into a golden-lit sanctuary with interiors that complement the fluidity of its drinks. Every detail reflects the founders’ friendship, creating an atmosphere that is both contemporary and personal.
The drinks menu, crafted by Dev Narveker from Petisco in Goa and led by Head Mixologist Omkar Vidhyadhar Parab, features inventive cocktails alongside refined classics. Standout creations include Pour Me A Slice, a whiskey infused with gouda and blue cheese mixed with cherry and hibiscus sake, Martini Revolver, which combines tequila and mezcal with house-made jalapeño brine, and Slow Current, a chilli-spiced highball with Gundu pepper and sumac. Lighter options such as Clear Intention and Lavender Line add a refreshing and playful touch. Omkar advises guests to begin with light drinks and progress to bolder flavors, guiding them through Mirth’s thoughtfully designed cocktail journey. Traditional back bar selections ensure that purists are also well catered to.
The kitchen is led by Chef Baljeet Singh Mehra, whose international experience in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, New Zealand, and India brings a balance of fusion and clarity to the menu. Signature dishes include Sunny Side South, a Goan Ros Omelette with Asian chicken served with Malvani curry, East Meets Mezze, a hummus-edamame-sriracha creation, Crackle Theory pork, and Napoli Heatwave spaghetti tossed in chilli oil.
Each founder contributes uniquely to the bar’s identity. Sundeep Reddy blends precision with a love for motorsports, Arasu Elango brings global influences and a keen sense of music, Santosh Balan combines two decades of risk advisory experience with culinary passion, and Prasanna Govindappa returned from international assignments to help shape Mirth’s distinctive style. Their camaraderie is visible in every drink, playlist, and dish, and guests often spot them enjoying the signature Old Flame cocktail while tasting wok-tossed chilli basil chicken.
In an era dominated by Instagram-worthy spots, Mirth stands out by embracing old-school charm. The bar prioritizes great music, warm hospitality, inventive cocktails, and food that comforts while surprising. It is designed as a neighborhood haven for those seeking timeless moments rather than fleeting trends.
