At least nine people lost their lives after a tanker lorry crashed into a Ganpati immersion procession in Karnataka’s Hassan district. Police confirmed that the driver of the vehicle has been taken into custody.
The accident occurred on Thursday evening in Mosale Hosalli village, when the tanker, allegedly driven recklessly, ploughed into a crowd of devotees. The mishap took place between 8 pm and 8:45 pm, leaving nine dead and several others injured, including the driver himself.
Inspector General of Police Boralingaiah informed reporters that six villagers and three engineering students were among those who died in the tragedy.
