"Study Reveals Women in Technology See AI Driving New Opportunities"
Mumbai, September 12 (PTI)  A recent report shows that a large majority of women in the technology sector view artificial intelligence as a key driver of equal opportunity. According to the study, 78 percent of respondents believe AI can help them access better and more in-demand career opportunities.

The report, conducted by the jobs and career platform apna.co, surveyed over 11,300 women working in technology across India. It highlights a growing focus on workplace equity, with most women confident that AI can play a significant role in advancing their careers.

The survey found that more than half of the respondents (52 percent) belong to Generation Z, under the age of 25. Nearly 60 percent of them come from tier II and tier III cities, and two-thirds attended non-elite colleges. The findings also show that women are actively preparing for an AI-driven future. About 58 percent are already engaged in AI or machine learning training through work, formal courses, or self-study, while another 24 percent plan to start soon. This intent is especially high among Gen Z respondents and women from non-elite colleges in smaller cities.

The report further reveals career aspirations in high-demand roles, with nearly half aiming to become AI software developers. About 19 percent are targeting data science and machine learning positions, 14 percent are looking at product management, and 10 percent are interested in research roles. This trend indicates a clear preference for industry-focused opportunities.

Nirmit Parikh, founder and CEO of apna.co, stated, "Women in technology are embracing AI not just as a trend but as a real tool for equal opportunity. It is encouraging to see that 58 percent are already using AI at work or learning it actively, with many more preparing to follow."

The report also found that for nearly two-thirds of respondents, AI expertise is now more important than having graduated from a prestigious college. This perspective is strongest among Gen Z women aged 22 to 25 and women from tier II and III cities.

When asked about challenges in pursuing AI-related careers, 42 percent cited the need for better access to quality opportunities, 27 percent mentioned the importance of stronger mentorship, and 19 percent emphasized the need for advanced training options.
