Navjot Singh’s close friend Rishabh shared that he had received a call from Navnoor, who spoke about the last gift his late father had arranged for him. When Rishabh asked about the presents, including the air fryer, Navnoor explained that his father had noticed his growing passion for cooking and wanted to encourage it, as reported by NDTV.
Navjot Singh was fond of giving surprises and his final gesture reached his son early in the morning at 6 am, just as the family was preparing for his cremation, the report mentioned.
Rishabh, filled with emotion, had earlier said that the passing of his friend was not just a personal loss but a huge loss for the nation.
Navjot Singh, aged 52, lost his life when a high-speed BMW collided with his motorcycle near the Delhi Cantonment metro station on Ring Road around 1.30 pm on Sunday, September 14. His wife Sandeep Kaur, who was riding with him, survived the incident but is still admitted to hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the BMW, identified as Gagan Preet Makkad, was taken into custody a day later. She faces charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder, reckless driving, endangering human life, and tampering with evidence.
Navnoor had earlier alleged that the accused woman took his injured parents to a hospital located 22 kilometers away instead of a nearby facility. He claimed that his father’s life might have been saved if immediate medical care had been provided at a closer hospital.
According to Navnoor, his parents had left home in the morning to visit Bangla Sahib Gurudwara. They later went to Karnataka Bhawan for lunch and were on their way back when a speeding BMW struck their two-wheeler.
