Asia Cup 2025 Qualification Scenarios
With just three games left in the group stage, five teams—Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and the United Arab Emirates—are still battling for the remaining three places in the Super 4 stage, where India has already secured a spot.
An Afghanistan team that looked strong under the leadership of Rashid Khan faced a setback when its batting line-up collapsed in a chase of 155, eventually falling short by eight runs against Bangladesh in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday evening. The defeat has intensified the competition in Group B, where three teams now stand on equal footing, while Group A looks relatively straightforward after India registered two commanding victories to open their campaign.
Afghanistan, who had earlier beaten Hong Kong, now find themselves in a must-win clash against Sri Lanka to claim one of the two Group B positions for the Super 4 stage.

India’s dominant run has made the qualification picture much clearer in Group A. Both Pakistan and the UAE still have a chance to progress heading into the final round of group matches. However, the UAE’s heavily negative net run rate of -2.03 makes their chances very slim, even if they manage a convincing win. For Pakistan, the equation is simpler: a victory against the UAE will be enough for them to book their place in the Super 4 stage alongside India.
