Ghaziabad Police, working with Delhi and Haryana units, neutralised two gangsters linked to the Rohit Godara–Goldy Brar network after a dramatic encounter near Tronica City. The men were accused of opening fire outside Bollywood actor Disha Patani’s residence in Bareilly earlier this month.
The operation unfolded around 7:20 pm when police teams intercepted the suspects on a motorcycle and ordered them to surrender. Instead, the men opened fire, injuring a police officer and damaging a vehicle. Officers retaliated, and in the exchange of over a dozen rounds, both accused sustained fatal injuries.
Why Disha Patani’s home was targeted
Officials of the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) revealed that the gang had been keeping watch on Disha Patani’s residence for several weeks with the intent of extorting her and her family. Haryana STF Superintendent of Police Waseem Akram confirmed that the same men were also behind a firing incident reported in Bareilly on September 12.
Pramod Singh Kushwah, Additional Commissioner of Police (Special Cell), stated that the joint operation by Delhi Police, UP STF, and Haryana STF successfully cornered the suspects. He identified them as Ravinder from Rohtak and Arun from Sonepat, both active operatives of the Godara–Brar group.
How police tracked them down
Investigators pieced together CCTV footage near the Bareilly residence to identify Ravinder. From there, UP STF traced the suspects’ movements using technical surveillance and crime databases from Delhi and Haryana. The suspects’ trail through Bareilly and nearby districts eventually pointed towards Ghaziabad.
A team led by ACP Dharmender Singh and SI Manjeet Singh confirmed by early Monday morning that the accused had reached Ghaziabad and were attempting to flee. By afternoon, the location was verified, and police laid a trap near Tronica City that led to the deadly exchange of gunfire.
Authorities said the encounter marks a significant breakthrough against the Godara–Brar gang, which has been linked to several high-profile extortion and firing cases across northern India.
