Why CBSE extends dates for board examinations

In a bid to avoid clashes of examinations dates with the upcoming elections in five states across the country, CBSE has decided to conduct board examinations from March 9 to April 29.

The CBSE usually conducts its exams in the first week of March but due to upcoming election, the schedule of the examinations has been delayed slightly.

"The board has adopted several IT initiatives which will aid in faster result processing," RK Chaturvedi, chairman, CBSE said.

The class 10 exams will conclude on April 10, 2017, while the class 12 exams will conclude on April 29, 2017.
