Telangana IT Professional Wrote About Facing Racism at Google Before Reported Shooting by US Cops
A 30-year-old man from Telangana, identified as Mohammed Nizamuddin, has died in the United States after allegedly being shot by police during a confrontation with his roommate, according to his family’s statement on Thursday.

In what turned out to be his last LinkedIn post, Nizamuddin wrote that he had been a “victim of racial hatred.” He described at length the difficulties he faced during his employment at Google through EPAM Systems. He alleged that he was subjected to racial discrimination, harassment, torture, unfair termination, and wage fraud. Nizamuddin claimed he was not paid in line with U.S. Department of Labor wage standards and spoke of enduring a “hostile and unacceptable work environment.”

The post further alleged that the situation escalated when, according to him, a “racist detective and team” became involved. He accused them of worsening the harassment and claimed that his food had been poisoned and that he was being evicted from his home for speaking out against mistreatment. He directly blamed colleagues, his employer, and others for creating what he described as a campaign of oppression, adding that while he was not a saint, those responsible “are no God.” He urged the public to recognize the injustice and to demand accountability.

Back in India, his father, Mohammed Hasnuddin, told PTI that he has appealed to External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar for assistance in bringing his son’s body home to Mahabubnagar. “This morning I was informed that my son was shot dead by Santa Clara Police, and his body is now in a hospital in Santa Clara, California. I still do not know the exact reasons why the police fired at him,” Hasnuddin said in his letter to the minister.

He added that the altercation with the roommate was said to be over a minor matter, though the full circumstances surrounding the police shooting remain unclear. Hasnuddin has requested the Ministry of External Affairs to direct the Embassy of India in Washington D.C. and the Consulate General in San Francisco to help facilitate the repatriation of Nizamuddin’s remains to Mahabubnagar.
