Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif stated that the country’s nuclear capabilities could be extended to Saudi Arabia under a newly signed defence pact, marking the first official confirmation that Islamabad is prepared to place Riyadh under its nuclear umbrella.
“As far as Pakistan’s nuclear strength is concerned, it was established the day we carried out nuclear tests. Since then, our forces have been trained and prepared for any battlefield requirement. The resources and expertise we possess are well recognized and regularly verified,” Asif explained.
He further emphasized that Pakistan has consistently allowed inspections of its nuclear facilities and continues to receive international certifications for compliance. “We are a responsible nuclear state. Our conduct remains within global frameworks, and we have not breached any obligations,” he noted.
The minister highlighted the significance of the recent defence agreement between Islamabad and Riyadh, pointing to the long-standing military cooperation between the two nations.
In contrast, he remarked that Israel, despite holding nuclear weapons, has never permitted international inspections of its facilities. “Western powers are fully aware of this reality,” Asif added.
