Sailing into the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup 2025 unbeaten after their victory over Oman on Friday, the Indian cricket team, led by skipper Suryakumar Yadav, is set to face their longtime rivals Pakistan once again on Sunday in Dubai for their first Super Four encounter.
Earlier, on September 14, India had defeated the Pakistan team, led by Salman Agha, by seven wickets in the Group A clash in Dubai.
However, the focus shifted from celebrations to controversy, as the “no-handshake incident” stirred debates, leading to an exchange of words between the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the International Cricket Council (ICC). The ICC reprimanded the PCB for “violating multiple tournament rules” and dismissed the PCB’s request to remove Zimbabwean match referee Andy Pycroft from the tournament.
With the rematch looming, Pakistan’s captain urged his team to improve their batting in the middle overs. “We are ready for any challenge. Our focus is on playing good cricket, and we aim to continue the form we have maintained over the past few months,” Agha said.
