Delhi institute director booked for molestation of students, traced to Agra
The director of a branch of a reputed institution in Delhi has been booked on charges of molesting students, according to police sources cited by ANI on September 24. Over 15 female students have filed complaints against the accused, identified as Chinmayanad Saraswati alias Parthasarthi. A case has been registered at Vasant Kunj North Police Station following the statements of the complainants.
Police officials revealed that the accused was using a luxury red Volvo car fitted with a fake United Nations number plate. The car has been seized, and investigations confirmed that no such registration number was ever allotted. Authorities have been tracking the suspect’s movements and stated that his location was traced near Agra.
DCP (South West) Amit Goel confirmed that the accused is expected to be arrested soon. Police also noted that the accused had earlier applied for anticipatory bail but withdrew the request. Meanwhile, the institution has removed him from his position and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation. The victims’ statements were recorded before a magistrate under Section 183 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
Delhi Police crack hit-and-run case in eight days
In a separate incident, Delhi Police announced that they had solved a blind hit-and-run case within just eight days in the South West district.
On September 15, a PCR call reported a collision at the Munirka flyover, where a car driven by Mayank Jain was struck between 2 am and 3 am. When Jain stepped out of his vehicle, the other driver allegedly ran him over intentionally before escaping. Jain sustained injuries and was admitted to RR Hospital in Dhaula Kuan. An FIR was filed at Vasant Vihar police station under case number 221/25.
To trace the culprit, police examined footage from more than 200 CCTV cameras across the Ring Road and surrounding areas. They identified a suspicious car with a broken windshield, which was found to belong to a deceased individual, though his family was still using it. Through analysis of call records and CCTV route mapping, investigators established that Gaurav Bhardwaj of Greater Kailash Enclave-I had been driving the vehicle on the night of the incident.
Further checks revealed that Bhardwaj had replaced the damaged windshield at a local mechanic’s shop in GK-I the following day. The broken glass was recovered on September 20. Bhardwaj was arrested on September 22 and, during questioning, confessed to the crime. Police also recovered the offending vehicle at his instance.
