NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday highlighted India’s strong growth prospects, describing them as highly attractive. Speaking amid ongoing global trade tensions, he reiterated his commitment to the 'Make in India' and 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' initiatives, stressing the importance of the country becoming self-reliant.
At the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show 2025 in Greater Noida, PM Modi stated that despite worldwide disruptions, India has continued to progress and is actively seeking new avenues for growth. He emphasized that the nation is laying solid foundations to support development in the decades ahead.
Commenting on India's growth trajectory, PM Modi said that even in uncertain global conditions, India remains focused on expansion. He added that the country's commitment to self-reliance ensures that dependence on other nations does not hinder its progress. According to him, the more a nation relies on others, the more its growth potential is compromised.
The Prime Minister also marked the 11th anniversary of the 'Make in India' initiative, which he launched in 2014 to strengthen India’s industrial base and transform the country into a global manufacturing hub.
PM Modi praised Uttar Pradesh for its achievements in the manufacturing sector, noting that more than half of all mobile phones made in India are produced in the state. He highlighted that Uttar Pradesh will play a crucial role in boosting India’s self-sufficiency in the semiconductor industry.
On the defence front, PM Modi announced plans to develop a robust defence manufacturing sector in India. He mentioned that production of AK-203 rifles, in collaboration with Russia, is set to begin soon and a defence corridor is under development in Uttar Pradesh to support this initiative.
