DGCA CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY WITH THE WOMEN IN AVIATION (INDIA)

 On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in association with Women in Aviation, India Chapter organised the first interactive session to discuss on how to create awareness for equal gender representation within the industry as well as ways to empower women with necessary skills and provide avenues for growth. The session was chaired by Ms. Sathiyavathy, Director General, DGCA and India’s first woman chief of aviation regulator, Ms. Radha Bhatia, Chairperson, Bird Group and President, Women in Aviation, India Chapter and Neelam Pratap Rudy, Vice President Women in Aviation, India Chapter were also present along with officers of the DGCA.

 
Ms M. Sathiyavathy, Director General, DGCA, shared, “I would like to commend the initiative undertaken by WAI India to help encourage women within the industry. It’s heartening to see how women have excelled in all aspects of aviation such as manufacturing, leasing, law, engineering, MRO and their contribution to the industry is growing steadily.”
 
Speaking on the occasion, Radha Bhatia, Chairperson, Bird Group and President, Women in Aviation, India Chapter commented, “This is the first time that the industry has been invited by the DGCA on such an occasion which goes to show the importance of nurturing women professionals in order to sustain the industry’s growth trajectory. In India we aim to combine our diverse experiences and backgrounds and strive to offer adequate guidance and support to women within the industry.”
 
Women from Air India, DGCA , Airports etc shared their experiences of working in the aviation sector.
