Anthropic to Open First India Office in Bengaluru; CEO Dario Amodei Visiting This Week
AI startup Anthropic, the company behind Claude AI, has announced plans to open its first office in India by early 2026. The Bengaluru-based office will mark the company’s first physical presence in the country, aimed at supporting India’s rapidly expanding artificial intelligence sector and increasing local demand for its products.
The San Francisco–headquartered firm confirmed that CEO and co-founder Dario Amodei will be in India this week to engage with public officials and enterprise partners. According to earlier reports, Amodei may also hold meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several cabinet ministers during his visit.
Speaking about the company’s expansion into India, Amodei said, “India’s AI ecosystem will play a central role in shaping the global and democratic development of artificial intelligence. We look forward to partnering with Indian organizations to create pathways for scaling beneficial AI that serves everyone.”
Anthropic’s move signals growing interest among leading global AI players to tap into India’s booming technology landscape, skilled workforce, and rapidly increasing adoption of AI-powered tools. The new Bengaluru office is expected to serve as a hub for research collaboration, policy engagement, and enterprise partnerships.
