Hindustan Copper Soars Over 6% to New 52-Week High as Global Copp Prices Hit Multi-Month Peak

 

Hindustan Copper's share price witnes a strong rally on Thursday, gaining mo than 6% amid heavy buying interest, supported by a surge in global copper prices. The stock climbed as much as 6.37% to a fresh 52-week high of ₹363 per share on the BSE.

 

Investor participation was strong, with trading volumes far exceeding recent averages. Nearly 3 crore shares of Hindustan Copper were exchanged on October 9 - well above its one-week average of around 1 crore and one-month average of 2 crore.

 

The upswing in the state-run miner's stock came in line with a sharp increase in global copper prices. On the London Metal Exchange (LME), copper touched a 16-month high, boosted by multiple global factors including supply disruption atDomestically, copper futures on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) reached a new record of ₹1,013 per kg, and analysts expect further upside momentum in the coming weeks.

 

Hindustan Copper, the only copper ore mining company in India, holds all operational mining leases for the metal across the country. In FY25, the company produced 3.47 million tonnes of ore and aims to scale production to 4.35 million tonnes in FY26, with a long-term goal of surpassing 12 million tonnes by FY30-31 through ongoing mine expansion.

 

Market experts believe the company is well-positioned to capitalize on the global copper rally, supported by rising demand from infrastructure development, renewable energy, and electric vehicle sectors. As India's sole vertically integrated copper producer, Hindustan Copper is expected to benefit from higher metal prices and operational expansionHindustan Copper stands to gain from favorable pricing trends and increasing domestic demand. We anticipate its revenue to grow by ₹50-55 crore in the near term. However, investors should also be mindful of cost pressures, potential project delays, and price fluctuations," said Avinash Gorakshakar, a market analyst.

 

Technical Outlook

 

According to Anshul Jain, Head of Research at Lakshmishree Investments, Hindustan Copper is showing a strong bullish pattern. The stock is breaking out from a 311-day-long cup and handle formation, with buying activity evident from the start of the session.

 

"Trading volumes have risen more than 300% above the 50-day average, suggesting strong institutional participation. The overall setup remains positive, supported by healthy momentum indicators and aligned moving averages. A consistent close above 340 could confirm the breakout and open the path forfor further gains toward ₹400-₹440 levels," Jain noted.

 

He added that any short-term corrections toward the breakout zone could offer buying opportunities for investors with a bullish outlook.

Hindustan Copper has delivered exceptional returns to investors in recent months. The stock has gained 47% in the last month and 36% over the past three months. In the last six months alone, it has surged 83%, while in 2025 so far, the stock is up more than 45%.
