Prashant Kishor Hints at Contesting Raghopur in Bihar Assembly Polls 2025
Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor may contest the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections from Raghopur, a seat long held by the RJD and currently represented by Tejashwi Yadav. During his visit, Kishor said he will meet locals and understand their views before tomorrow’s central committee meeting, where decisions on Raghopur and other seats will be finalized.
Raghopur has been a Yadav family stronghold. Lalu Prasad Yadav won the seat twice, Rabri Devi three times, and Tejashwi Yadav twice, serving as Deputy Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition.
Of the 51 JSP candidates announced, 11 belong to backward classes, 17 to extremely backward classes, nine to minority communities, and the rest to the general category. Notable nominees include former Vice Chancellor K C Sinha, Bhojpuri singer Ritesh Ranjan Pandey, doctors Amit Kumar Das, Shashi Shekhar Sinha, and Lal Babu Prasad, Lata Singh, Jagriti Thakur, lawyer Y V Giri, and Pritti Kinnar from the third-gender community.
Bihar Assembly elections are scheduled for November 6 and 11, with vote counting on November 14.
