Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and its partners are set to invest as much as 700 billion rupees, or around $7.41 billion, in developing a 1 gigawatt artificial intelligence data center campus in Telangana, India, the company announced on Saturday.TCS subsidiary HyperVault has obtained 264 acres of land in Hyderabad for the development, which will be carried out in multiple stages.The planned campus will cater to AI firms and hyperscale technology companies, with infrastructure designed to handle high density GPU systems used for AI training and inference.Once fully completed, HyperVault expects the facility to become one of the largest AI infrastructure campuses in India.TCS CEO K Krithivasan said Hyderabad provides the required scale, skilled workforce and technology ecosystem to support the company's international customers.The investment announcement comes shortly after TCS revealed an agreement to acquire Porsche AG's automotive and consulting business MHP, as the technology services company continues expanding beyond its traditional IT services portfolio.The currency conversion used in the announcement was 1 US dollar equal to 94.4800 Indian rupees.
