The Music Photography Awards 2026 has announced its shortlist, selecting 40 finalists across eight categories from more than 24,500 entries submitted by photographers in 42 countries.

The shortlisted work captures a wide range of music personalities and performances, with artists such as Kendrick Lamar, Fontaines D.C., Tame Impala and Sombr appearing among the featured subjects. Photographs of performers including FKA Twigs have also been recognised separately through the judges’ awards.

The finalist photographs will be exhibited at the LED tunnel inside Outernet London from September 8 to 14. The exhibition will also feature five photographs competing for the Music Moment of the Year prize, which is decided through public voting.

Fans can cast their votes online through the awards’ official platform or in person while visiting the exhibition.

The winners are scheduled to be revealed at a ceremony in London on September 24, at the studios associated with the Beatles’ famous 1969 album.

Head judge Rankin described this year’s entries as particularly impressive, praising their technical quality as well as their energy, emotion and individual artistic perspectives.

The 2026 guest category focuses on the 50th anniversary of punk. Photographers Roberta Bayley and Masayoshi Sukita are also set to receive special recognition during the ceremony.

The judging panel brings together leading figures from music and photography, including Chic guitarist and producer Nile Rodgers and Brit Award-winning singer Raye.
