This is not good news for liquor baron Vijay Mallya as the Karnataka High Court has ordered a bailable warrant him for a contempt petition filed by a consortium of banks that lent money to his now-defunct Kingfisher.

Earlier on Jan 20, a division bench had asked Vijay Mallya to appear before them during framing of charges against him. 

The consortium of banks led by State Bank of India filed the contempt petition in 2014. It pertains to the alleged violation of an oral undertaking Mallya gave before the Debts Recovery Tribunal on July 26, 2013 on not transferring, alienating or otherwise dealing with his assets.
