A major Chinese memory chip producer is preparing to move into the NAND flash memory sector as demand for storage products continues to increase. The company currently focuses mainly on DRAM technology and is now working to broaden its presence in the memory chip industry.
It plans to establish a research and development production line for NAND flash memory at a new facility in Beijing. Discussions have also begun with potential customers interested in using the chips for storage products designed for artificial intelligence systems and supercomputers.
The planned expansion comes as artificial intelligence data centres drive stronger demand for memory products. The company has not yet confirmed when trial production will begin or whether the project will eventually develop into large scale commercial manufacturing.
