Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal met Canada’s Minister of International Trade Maninder Sidhu to review progress on negotiations for the India Canada Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement.
During the meeting, both countries reaffirmed their intention to move the negotiations forward and work towards completing the agreement at the earliest. The discussions focused on strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries.
The proposed CEPA is expected to open additional opportunities in trade in goods and services, investment and other areas of economic engagement. Goyal said an early conclusion of the agreement could support the shared goal of substantially expanding bilateral trade and further strengthening economic ties between India and Canada for mutual benefit.
