Brad Pitt is expected to return to the lead role for a new instalment in the World War Z franchise. The upcoming project is being developed as a follow up to the earlier zombie action film, with filmmaker Edward Berger attached to direct.

The original film, which featured Pitt as former United Nations investigator Gerry Lane, became a major international success after its release. The new project is expected to bring the actor back to the franchise after more than a decade.

The sequel will mark another major collaboration for Berger, who has worked on several acclaimed film projects. Further details about the story and production are expected to emerge as development progresses.
