Google has opened pre orders for its new Googlebook laptop range, introducing a premium category designed around Android integration and the company’s Gemini artificial intelligence tools.
The laptops start at $899 and are being produced initially by Acer, Asus, Dell, HP and Lenovo. Depending on the model, users can choose devices powered by Intel or Qualcomm processors, with battery life reaching up to 14 hours.
The new laptops include Gemini features designed to help users write and organise content, answer questions about information displayed on the screen and continue tasks between an Android smartphone and computer.
Googlebook combines the Android technology platform with the desktop capabilities of ChromeOS. The launch comes as competition in the laptop market increases, with companies seeking to bring more artificial intelligence features into everyday computing.
