Alibaba has announced plans for a much larger artificial intelligence model as the company expands its efforts across AI software, semiconductor technology and data center infrastructure.
The company is developing a model expected to contain between 5 trillion and 10 trillion parameters, potentially making it several times larger than its current flagship system.
Alibaba has also introduced a new AI processor called the Zhenwu V900. The chip was developed by the company’s semiconductor division and is designed to provide substantially higher performance than its previous generation.
Mass production of the new processor is expected to begin in early 2027. Alibaba is also working to expand its cloud infrastructure, with plans for data center capacity to exceed 20 gigawatts by 2032.
The developments reflect the growing competition among major technology companies to build domestic AI systems and reduce dependence on advanced processors supplied by overseas chipmakers.
