All Public Sector Banks and Regional Rural Banks will remain operational on Sunday, September 27, as authorities prepare for a proposed nationwide bank strike later in the month.
The decision has been taken ahead of the three day strike announced by the United Forum of Bank Unions from September 28 to 30. The proposed action follows the weekend holidays on September 26 and 27. Approval has also been given for bank branches, offices, ATM linked branches and currency chests to continue their operations throughout Sunday.
The government and bank managements have urged the unions to reconsider the planned strike. Steps are also being taken to keep essential banking services available without disruption during the period.
