All Public Sector Banks and Regional Rural Banks will remain open on Sunday, September 27, to ensure customers can continue to access banking services.
The decision comes ahead of a proposed three day nationwide bank strike announced by the United Forum of Bank Unions from September 28 to 30. The strike dates follow the weekend holidays on September 26 and 27.
Approval has been given for bank branches, offices, ATM linked branches and currency chests to operate normally on September 27. The move is intended to help maintain access to essential banking services during the period.
The government and bank managements have also appealed to the unions to postpone the proposed strike. Measures have been put in place to ensure that essential banking operations continue without interruption.
