Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has launched Bharat Taxi and the Mukhyamantri Krishak Samriddhi Yojana, introducing new measures aimed at supporting drivers and farmers across the state.
Under Bharat Taxi, two wheeler, taxi and three wheeler drivers can register and join the platform without paying commission. Registered drivers will also receive social security coverage of Rs 5 lakh. The service has initially started in Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Varanasi and Prayagraj.
Agreements have also been signed with several institutions, including Lucknow Airport, Lucknow Metro and Lucknow Police. Referring to the 2025 Prayagraj Mahakumbh, the Chief Minister said large numbers of young people used their motorcycles to help devotees travel to the Sangam area and also assisted pilgrims travelling between the Sangam, railway stations and the airport.
Under the Mukhyamantri Krishak Samriddhi Yojana, the interest rate on loans offered to farmers through the Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Gramya Vikas Bank has been reduced from 11 percent to 6 percent. The government has also arranged long term loans to help farmers meet expenses related to cultivation and agricultural machinery. The programme aims to reach five lakh small and marginal farmers in the coming years.
Yogi Adityanath said that since his government came to power in 2017, loans worth more than Rs 36,000 crore belonging to 86 lakh small and marginal farmers have been waived. He also highlighted the completion of irrigation projects that had remained pending for several years.
The Chief Minister said 122 sugar mills are currently operating in Uttar Pradesh, with more than 100 making payments to sugarcane farmers within four days. According to him, sugarcane payments worth Rs 3.30 lakh crore have been made to farmers over the past nine years.
He also alleged that earlier governments had closed 29 sugar mills and claimed that 21 of them were later sold at very low prices.
