Mizoram has launched its first Pluck and Pay Festival in Tualte and Chawngtlai villages of Khawzawl district, bringing a new community focused approach to rural tourism.
The three day event, being held from September 23 to 25, allows visitors to enter local farms, pick fresh fruits and vegetables themselves and pay for the produce they harvest. The initiative aims to create a direct connection between tourists and farming families while supporting rural livelihoods.
The festival also features traditional Mizo music and dance, local food, handicrafts, cultural activities and recreational games. Visitors can also explore nearby historical and tourist attractions.
The initiative is designed to spread tourism related income across local communities by creating opportunities for farmers, homestays, guides, transport providers, food businesses and artisans.
