Bangladesh has started a nationwide measles and rubella vaccination drive aimed at reaching around 34 lakh children who have either not been vaccinated or were missed earlier. The campaign covers children aged six months to below five years and is being carried out by the Health and Family Welfare Ministry under the Intensified MR Catch up Vaccination programme.
The campaign began at the T and T playground and in several parts of Dhaka. It will continue until October 31, with health authorities focusing on children who were not reached during the ongoing vaccination programme.
Children who turn six months old during the campaign period and become eligible for vaccination will also be included in the drive.
Health workers and volunteers will visit homes to check vaccination records and locate children whose details are not included in existing vaccination lists or earlier campaign records. The effort is intended to ensure that eligible children who may have been missed are identified and provided with the required vaccination.
