China is expecting around 650 million passenger trips across the country during the three day Mid Autumn Festival holiday. Road travel is expected to account for more than 90% of the total journeys, with many people travelling to meet family and friends.

The railway network is expected to handle 22.34 million passenger trips on Friday, while additional trains have been arranged to manage the increased demand. Airlines have also added thousands of extra flights during the wider holiday travel period.

International flight bookings have risen 22.5% compared with the same period last year. Nearby destinations including Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam and Laos have recorded stronger demand, while bookings for longer distance trips to countries such as the UK, Germany and Spain have also increased.
