India has moved up nine positions to rank 31st among 110 economies in the 2026 Travel and Tourism Development Index. The improvement reflects stronger performance in areas including tourism infrastructure, cultural resources and facilities supporting business travel.

India also benefits from its natural attractions, cultural heritage and relatively competitive travel costs. The latest index shows that tourism development conditions improved across most economies between 2024 and 2026, with 101 of the 110 economies recording higher scores.
