India is observing the 10th anniversary of the surgical strikes carried out on September 28 and 29, 2016. The Indian Army conducted the operation against terrorist targets in Pakistan, crossing the Line of Control as part of its response to terrorism.
In his latest Mann Ki Baat address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi described the 2016 operation as a significant milestone in India's approach to countering terrorism. He recalled the role of the Indian Army and said the operation demonstrated a change in the country's response to terrorist attacks.
Modi also referred to the Balakot airstrike and Operation Sindoor while discussing India's counter terrorism approach over the past decade. He said the country has adopted what he described as a zero tolerance policy towards terrorism.
The Prime Minister also recalled earlier terrorist attacks, including the Delhi serial blasts of September 13, 2008, and the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. He said these incidents were part of a period when India faced repeated terrorist attacks and highlighted the changes in the country's approach since then.
