Olympic gold medallist Katy Marchant has announced her retirement from cycling at the age of 33, bringing her competitive career to an end.

Marchant was part of the British team alongside Sophie Capewell and Emma Finucane that set a world record and won gold in the women's team sprint at the Paris Olympics in 2024.

She also claimed a sprint bronze medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics during her debut at the Games. In 2024, she added a world championship team title to her achievements.

Marchant said she felt fortunate to have spent 13 years pursuing her sporting career and expressed gratitude for the people she worked with and the friendships she developed.

She said she was closing an important chapter of her life while looking forward to starting the next phase of her journey.
