Heavy rainfall over the past few days, along with water released from barrages, has caused flood like conditions across several districts of Uttar Pradesh.
The Ramganga River in Shahjahanpur and the Ghaghra River at Barabanki, Ayodhya and Turtipar in Ballia are flowing above the danger mark. The Kuwano River in Gonda and the Gandak River in Kushinagar have also crossed the danger level.
In Kushinagar, an embankment along the Narayani River in the Tamkuhi Raj tehsil area breached late last night under heavy water pressure. The breach extended for around 25 metres, raising concerns among local residents and putting nearly two dozen villages at risk of flooding.
NDRF and SDRF teams have been instructed to conduct extensive rescue operations in the affected areas.
