Indian Railways has sanctioned ₹223 crore for the installation of Kavach 4.0 across more than 614 route kilometres in the Varanasi Division of North Eastern Railway.
The project will extend Kavach 4.0 coverage to the remaining identified sections of the division and further strengthen safety systems for train operations. The initiative is aimed at supporting safer and more dependable train services while expanding the use of India’s indigenous Kavach technology across the railway network.
Kavach is an indigenously developed Automatic Train Protection system created to improve railway safety. It helps prevent Signal Passing at Danger, applies brakes automatically when required and monitors train movement to support safer operations.
