US President Donald Trump has released a one page agreement on artificial intelligence that was signed by several major technology companies. The document sets out a voluntary framework for companies to strengthen oversight and safety measures in the development and use of AI systems.
The agreement calls for independent assessments of AI controls, board level oversight, internal monitoring of AI models and dedicated teams to check whether safety systems are working properly. The measures cover areas including cybersecurity, biosecurity and chemical risks.
The agreement was signed by Trump and executives from Google, Anthropic, Meta, OpenAI, X and Nvidia. The participating companies are also expected to meet regularly to develop standards and best practices aimed at improving AI safety.
