A nationwide cleanliness campaign titled Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath is being carried out under the Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 Campaign.
The initiative focuses on promoting cleanliness, strengthening sanitation and spreading awareness among people about hygiene and responsible waste disposal.
Union Ministers, Chief Ministers and senior government officials are participating in cleanliness activities at different locations across the country.
The Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 Campaign began on 17 September and will continue until 17 October. This year’s theme, Swachhata Mein Sahbhag, Swachh Bharat, Viksit Bharat, highlights the importance of collective participation and shared responsibility in achieving the goal of a clean and developed India.
Union Jal Shakti Minister C R Paatil took part in a Shramdaan activity at Kalindi Kunj Ghat in New Delhi. Speaking to reporters, he said cleanliness and water conservation are closely connected and stressed the importance of keeping rivers clean. He said that throwing waste into rivers can pollute water and have harmful effects on human life.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju participated in the campaign at Peshwa Road Navyug School in New Delhi. He said that cleanliness and sanitation have received special attention under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He added that a cleaner India would contribute to a healthier India.
Union Minister for Coal and Mines G Kishan Reddy also joined the cleanliness drive in Delhi. He said that cleanliness should not be limited to cleaning activities but should become part of everyday behaviour.
A cleanliness drive was also held at Pondy Marina Beach in Puducherry under the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign of the Swachh Bharat Mission.
Lieutenant Governor K. Kailashnathan inaugurated the programme and participated in the cleanliness activities. College students, volunteers and government officials also joined the drive.
Puducherry Legislative Assembly Pro tem Speaker Anbalagan, Local Administration Department Secretary Vikrant Raja, Director Adarsh and other officials participated in the programme.
