Union Home Minister Amit Shah said the government has achieved a significant milestone by securing the deportation of alleged narco trafficking kingpin Navpreet Singh from Türkiye.
In a social media post, Shah said Singh had allegedly continued to smuggle heroin and methamphetamine into India from Afghanistan after obtaining Turkish citizenship using the identity Navab Virk.
According to the Home Minister, agencies traced Singh and established his alleged identity before securing his deportation to India. He said Singh has now been brought back to the country and placed behind bars in connection with cases related to alleged drug trafficking and other offences.
Shah congratulated the agencies involved in the operation and said the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi remains committed to dismantling narco cartels before December 2029.
