The India Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rainfall in Karnataka, Kerala, Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal today.

The weather department said conditions are expected to become favourable for the southwest monsoon to withdraw further from most parts of Marathwada and Vidarbha, along with some additional areas of Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh, over the next two days.

Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are likely in Uttarakhand, Telangana, Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Lakshadweep today. Similar weather conditions are also expected in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh is likely to experience strong surface winds until tomorrow.
