In the China Open Tennis tournament, Novak Djokovic advanced to the men’s singles final after Daniil Medvedev was defaulted during their semifinal in Beijing.

The Serbian was serving for the match at 7 to 5, 5 to 3 and 15 all when a ball rebounded from the back wall. Medvedev instinctively hit the ball, sending it into the crowd where it struck a spectator, leading to his default.

The result gave Djokovic his first ATP 500 final appearance since he won the title in Astana in 2022.

Djokovic will face fifth seeded Australian Alex de Minaur in the final today.
