The Union Cabinet has adopted a resolution congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi on completing 25 years as the head of government. Mr Modi first took charge as the Chief Minister of Gujarat on 7th October 2001 and later became the Prime Minister of India in 2014. He is completing 25 years in government leadership today.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the Prime Minister’s 25 year journey in public office reflects the strength of Indian democracy. He described Mr Modi’s rise from an ordinary family and his continued dedication to serving the country as an example of the vitality, vibrancy and maturity of the democratic system.
Mr Vaishnaw said Prime Minister Modi has created a record that is unique in the history of democratic countries. He pointed out that only a few countries have seen people repeatedly extend their support to the same leader. According to the minister, this support has been based on Mr Modi’s working style, policies and clear intentions.
The minister also said that the Bharatiya Janata Party and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have consistently followed the principles of public service and national service, while keeping the nation above all other considerations. He highlighted ten major points included in the Cabinet resolution.
The first point focuses on the expansion of the development vision from Gujarat to the entire country. Mr Vaishnaw said Prime Minister Modi introduced several changes in Gujarat through various programmes and policies during his tenure as Chief Minister. These initiatives received recognition and appreciation internationally and later became part of the development approach adopted across India.
