The Ayush services sector is becoming an important source of employment for women, with female representation crossing 50 percent in several organised areas such as hospitals, educational institutions and wellness establishments.
According to the Ministry of Ayush, women make up 43 percent of the sector’s overall services workforce. The industry currently supports an estimated 1.76 million livelihoods across healthcare, wellness, education and related services.
Union Minister of State for Ayush Prataprao Jadhav highlighted the sector’s growing employment potential, noting that its expansion is opening opportunities for women and others across healthcare, wellness, education and allied services.
The Ministry expects the Ayush services sector to grow significantly in the coming years. Its value is projected to increase from around 37 billion US dollars in 2024 to 2025 to between 216 billion and 318 billion US dollars by 2047.
The increasing participation of women in organised Ayush establishments, along with the sector’s expanding economic and employment base, could support greater participation of women in the workforce and contribute to inclusive growth as India works towards the Viksit Bharat@2047 goal.
