Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan has emphasised that cooperation among nations is essential for maintaining international peace, strengthening security and promoting prosperity. He said that in an increasingly connected world, working together has become a strategic requirement rather than simply a matter of diplomacy.
Addressing participants of the 66th National Defence College Course in New Delhi, the Vice President explained that effective global cooperation depends on countries identifying common interests, respecting one another’s concerns and translating shared goals into joint action. He noted that major challenges, including climate change and terrorism, cannot be addressed effectively without collective efforts.
Radhakrishnan also highlighted the importance of India’s philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, which conveys the message that the world is one family. He said this principle goes beyond words, pointing to India’s willingness to extend assistance to other countries during disasters and difficult situations.
The Vice President further stated that India aspires to become the world’s most powerful nation, not to control other countries or impose its decisions on them, but to ensure that India can safeguard its interests and make independent decisions without external pressure.
