Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has called on young people to take an active role in India’s development by contributing new ideas, innovative thinking and a clear vision to policymaking. Speaking at Dilli Dialogue 2026 in New Delhi, he highlighted the country’s ability to maintain economic progress despite challenges in the global environment.
Goyal said India’s population of 1.4 billion people and its large young workforce provide important advantages for future growth. He noted that many countries are dealing with ageing populations, whereas India’s average age is below 30 and is expected to remain at this level for the next three decades.
The Minister expressed confidence that India could become a 30 trillion dollar economy by 2047. He also emphasised the importance of young people’s ambitions, ideas and determination in shaping the country’s future.
According to Goyal, young Indians should not view themselves only as beneficiaries of the nation’s progress but also as active contributors to its development. He said their participation and innovative thinking would play an important role in supporting economic growth and building a more prosperous India.
