Goa recorded approximately 7.69 million tourist visits during the first nine months of 2026, showing a slight increase over the corresponding period in the previous year. Domestic tourism remained the main contributor, accounting for around 7.42 million visits and registering growth of 1.72%.
Beyond its popular beaches, Goa offers visitors a mix of Portuguese era architecture, historic churches, local festivals, traditional cuisine and nature based experiences. These attractions are creating opportunities to broaden the state’s tourism offerings and appeal to travellers with different interests.
Tourism promotion is increasingly focusing on wellness activities, spiritual experiences, adventure travel and destinations away from heavily visited coastal areas. Greater interest in these options could benefit local businesses and encourage tourists to explore more of the state.
Improved international connectivity and efforts to reach overseas markets are also important to Goa’s tourism development plans. Attracting visitors across different seasons could help accommodation providers, restaurants, transport operators and tourism related businesses maintain activity throughout the year.
The latest arrival figures underline Goa’s continuing popularity as a holiday destination, while diversification and responsible tourism remain important for the sector’s long term development.
