Indian Grandmaster S L Narayanan felt "humiliated" when he had to stand barefoot inside the playing site for a metal detector check during a Monday Bundesliga chess league match in Germany.
The metal detector check prompted Narayanan to remove his shoes before doing the same with his socks since it beeped. Later, it was found that the floor's carpet was what was making the beeping noise.
This kind of testing was done in the past as well, but ever since world champion Magnus Carlsen accused American GM Hans Niemann of fraud earlier this year, the regulations have become stricter.
