The Pentagon has stated in a report that Beijing seeks to increase its national strength through both internal and foreign policy efforts that China is building its nuclear force and is projected to have a stockpile of around 1,500 warheads by 2035, up from the present estimated number of 400.
 

Beijing intends to modernize, diversify, and boost its nuclear forces over the next 10 years, according to the Pentagon's annual report to Congress, which was presented on Tuesday.
 

China's current nuclear modernization effort, according to the report, has surpassed earlier modernization efforts in scope and complexity.
