Nadav Lapid, the Israeli filmmaker, has offered a "complete apologies" for any offence caused by his comments on "The Kashmir Files," claiming that his intention was not to disparage the Kashmiri Pandit population or those who had suffered.
Lapid, who presided over the international jury at the recent International Film Festival of India (IFFI), reaffirmed that he only criticised the movie for its 'series of cinematic manipulations' after calling the Vivek Agnihotri film 'vulgar' and 'propaganda.' Lapid had previously sparked a huge uproar by using those terms to describe the film.
"I did not intend to offend anyone. Never once did I intend to make fun of the people or their grieving relatives. If that's how they took it, I sincerely apologise "Lapid told CNN-News18 on Wednesday night after leaving the country following his comments at the festival's closing ceremony this week in Goa.
"However, I also made it perfectly clear that I felt it was inappropriate for such a prominent competitive area and that for myself and my fellow jury members, it was and is a vulgar propaganda film. I could say it over and over "Added he.
