In a recent tweet, the Prime Minister replied to a tweet by Union Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya said, "Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana is a landmark initiative aimed at ensuring affordable healthcare. It has ensured significant savings for the poor and middle classes. Glad to see that esteemed G-20 delegates got the opportunity to see aspects of this scheme." The PMBJP the scheme has been a game-changer in the healthcare sector in India. With over7,000 Janaushadhi Kendras established across India, the scheme has made quality medicines accessible to people even in remote areas. The Kendras are run by pharmacists who provide generic medicines at a price that is 50% to 90% lower than the branded equivalent. The scheme has been successful in promoting the use of generic medicines, which are equivalent in quality, efficacy, and safety to the branded medicines.
